Building Coastal Resilience in Boston

In response to the growing threat of sea level rise and coastal flooding, the City of Boston launched “Climate Ready Boston,” a citywide initiative to prepare neighborhoods for the impacts of climate change. Woods Hole Group is a proud partner in designing and implementing science-based strategies that transform planning into action.
This video explores how Superstorm Sandy in 2012 served as the initial catalyst for the city’s resilience efforts, and how a series of major coastal flooding events in 2018 underscored the urgency of the work.
Hear from leaders in Boston’s Office of Climate Resilience as they discuss the city’s bold vision, the use of the Massachusetts Coastal Flood Risk Model, and the infrastructure projects now being built to safeguard communities for generations to come.
